Oru, our Pan-Asian bistro in Vancouver, is derived from the Japanese word meaning “to fold”. Wallet-friendly, this free-standing restaurant features an open kitchen with two chef’s tables, a private dining room, and wine tasting area with the largest sake cellar in the city.
Executive chef David Wong, a recent competitor at the Bocuse d’Or culinary event in France, has created a harmonious fusion of east and west flavours in his kitchen. Open for power breakfasts during the week, Oru’s morning signature item is smoked sablefish benedict with lobster hollandaise sauce. House-made jams, jellies and marmalades with just-baked pastries and breads, and traditional Japanese breakfast are also served along with all the morning favourites.
Among the lunch offerings are items like tandori roasted chicken, authentic Thai curry, Vietnamese subs on French baguettes, and bento boxes. Dinner showcases the chef’s culinary flair with traditional and authentic dishes from around the Pacific Rim. With tasty noodles, curry, BC seafood and variety of meat dishes, it’s hard to decide what to select!
