In the last six months I have been on many planes, trains, automobiles, buses, and even boats and bicycles. Just a glance tells anyone that I like to move. The past 12 months, however, have been particularly busy (not to mention the last six weeks). BUT, I have been in the same place for 20 days and so this process just naturally comes with being in a new place: a time to reflect and the feeling of being in limbo, of “being in transition” and getting acquainted with the new surroundings.

After sabering open a bottle of Tribute commemorative Sparkling wine with a downhill ski, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery founder Harry McWatters and senior winemaker Mark Wendenburg presented Alexandre Bilodeau, the first Canadian to win an Olympic Gold Medal on Canadian soil, with a signed bottle of Tribute Gold.

There’s something to be said about drinking with the dolphins.
The “Winery of the Year” celebration hosted at the Vancouver Aquarium honouring Sandhill Winery and Master Winemaker, Howard Soon, brought an entirely new meaning to the saying, “drinking like a fish”. There was certainly no shortage of wines to sample at the Monday, January 18th event, which welcomed a gamut of guests ranging from wine reps in their best tight skirts and heels, to the money backers sporting their most recently acquired tans, as well as several local renowned wine educators and media types.
