Details about Parkside east in the old Pings location on Main are beginning to firm up. First, we can report the space will be called Cafeteria and will not accept reservations, it will be strictly first come first served. Plates will all be under twenty bucks and the menu will be reminiscent of the early days of Parkside. Opening is scheduled for June 15 or 16. More details as they emerge.

Andrey Durbach’s cooking has always had a great underlying spirit of generosity. Sounds like this new spot is going to be in keeping with that philosophy. Looking forward to seeing how things develop!
It’s not quite as far east as I’d wish, and it’s in the unfortunate wake of the closure of Parkside / Other Buca, but nonetheless I am pretty excited to be a step closer towards a Durbach neighborhood (my neighborhood) restaurant. Scoop!
Montreal used to have a great restaurant just off of Pine named Cafeteria — brilliant concept. Great breakfast and lunch serving all the French/Montreal classics, but at night it all changed!!!! After 11pm all the beautiful people would show up… and the menu was eclectic to say the least. One table would be eating burgers, the next steak fritz, tartar and pappiotte and another a $300 caviar service – it was sublime and wonderful.
I am sure Andre will be ‘playing’ a lot in his new concept. Makes me very excited and cannot wait to eat there.
