Hit & Run – Like Chatroulette But With Food Edition

by Keith Talent on April 2, 2010

Just like the site that inspired the title for this edition, it’s as unerotic as hell, but strangely fascinating.  Come inside to learn about the inspiration for Earls and Hooters, discover a chain of North Korean restaurants and a link to The Golden Plates, saving you from having to google or carry home a soggy paper in the Good Friday rain. Just hit next if an item doesn’t pique your curiosity.

First up we have a review of a book that explores an early American restaurant chain that hit on the formula still employed at every CFD chain on earth, namely pretty young women are good for business. There’s nothing new on earth, only shorter skirts and tighter shirts.

Next we take a look at a profile of a chain of North Korean restaurants on Slate.com spread throughout Asia. A DPRK chain of theme restaurants, crazy world.

Last up we guide your attention the annual inadvertent cavalcade of comedy that is The Golden Plates 2010 at The Georgia Straight. (AKA – The people have spoken, and the people like Subway sandwiches.) It’s always fun to play the “who was a ballot stuffer.” I’ll leave the conclusions to you (mostly because of insufficient Urban Diner defamation insurance.)
