Man Eats Dog

Roger Cohen writes about his experience with eating dog in China in yesterday’s International Herald Tribune. Internet commenters predictably lose their shit. The man does have common sense on his side though.

But do pigs have any more or less of a soul than dogs? Are they any more or less sentient? Do they suffer any more or less in death? Are they any more or less part of the mysterious unity of life? I think not.

well I get that alot ppl saying Dogs are the men’s best friend but you know what how about a farmers who raise the cows, pigs, chickens, etc… it’s exactly the same thing its a meat and I don’t oppose to that! I think that if ppl thinks that eating dog is barbaric things then we should only eat the vegetables… the fact I should let everyone know It’s legal in Korea to eat Dog soup

In Xiamen, Fujian’s market there was just one booth selling beef, and it also sold dog. I thought it was a leg of lamb until I saw the foot.

But they eat everything else, so why not…

In most of the Western world, we treat our dogs like humans, which they are not. Seeing people go to 1st base with their dogs is slightly disturbing.

I wonder what Ceser “The Dog Whisperer” Millan, who treats his dogs like dogs would think about eating them?
