Chef Daniel Boulud’s legendary flagship restaurant, Daniel, has finally earned its third Michelin star.

“What a tremendous honor it is. Earning a third star in the Michelin Guide feels like winning a Nobel Prize,” says Chef Daniel Boulud referring to his restaurant, DANIEL, and the release of the 2010 Michelin guide for New York City. “I am just as happy about Café Boulud being recognized with one Michelin star,” continues Boulud regarding his second restaurant on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and one of five in Manhattan. “For a chef born, raised and trained in France, Michelin’s prestige is undeniable. This recognition is as meaningful to me as it is for the 135 staff working at DANIEL, particularly, Executive Chef Jean François Bruel, Chef de Cuisine Eddy Leroux, Pastry Chef Dominique Ansel, General Manager Pierre Siue, Maitre d’Hôtel Maite Montenegro, Sommelier Raj Vaidya and so many more. Their talent and dedication are what go in to making DANIEL what it is.”
During the years since the Michelin Guide first came to NY, DANIEL has earned four stars from The New York Times, Best of Awards of Excellence from The Wine Spectator and glowing reviews in popular restaurant guides such as The Zagat Survey, to name but a few. “Having arrived here almost three decades ago, I am very much a New York chef and restaurateur. I understand It may have taken a while for a French guide to appreciate my very New York style of French restaurant.” The chef adds, “I also have to thank my incredibly loyal clientele for their faithful support as well as my wonderful purveyors for the superb produce they supply us with. What’s next? The chef is just about to reopen Café Boulud this coming Wednesday October 7th following an thorough renovation.
Daniel Boulud is the Chef-Owner of five Manhattan restaurants including Café Boulud, DB Bistro Moderne, Bar Boulud and DBGB Kitchen and Bar. Daniel Boulud’s culinary accolades include James Beard Foundation awards for “Outstanding Restaurateur,” “Best Chef of New York City” and “Outstanding Chef of the Year”. Daniel Boulud distinguishes himself as a Chevalier of the highest order with the generousity of spirit with which he extends the honour of his recent Three Star Michelin Award to his talented brigade.
I am very much looking forward to visit Daniel’s when I go to New York in November. I will be sure to also pass on this review to a friend who is already out there, I think she would enjoy the food very much!
Class act Daniel Boulud. Met him twice since he has been in Vancovuer at DB Bistro. He lights the place up. Now if we cna get the Michelin guide to look out here in the west coast?
