Starbucks to Sell Wine ~ The World Ends Soon

by paulkamon on July 24, 2009

Just when you thought the depraved and homogenized race to the bottom couldn’t get any more cynical and retarded with Target, Walmart, and K Mart all selling wine at discounted prices, enter Starbucks Coffee Company into the melee.

Under a new pilot-program, which will have three Seattle outlets participating as part of an ongoing revamp aimed at turning the ailing corporation around, each store will serve a half-dozen kinds of beer and wine at $4 to $7.

OMG, if I see Keith Nicholson working at Starbucks, I am going to shit my pants, seriously.

not a bad idea in my opinion.

I don’t get the uproar either. If you don’t want to support Starbucks – then don’t spend your money there. Easy.

Can we expect a contract-brewed Starbucks Espresso Stout? Pike Pub is just down the street from their original location and makes a stunning stout.

Re the 15th street location of Tarbux:

Sounds like an interesting concept. I am not a fan of their products to begin with.. I don’t see why I would pay extra for Starbucks items at this particular location???

and what would be wrong with that? They have lots of cash to support an uber huge cellar right? move over Bearfoot… its Sumatra time!

just think… “would you like your Chateau de Critter Wine Reserve, Grande or Venti size sir??”

But seriously… the BC government and liquor laws? maybe my grandkids might see it…

Keith Nicholson.

“Okay Keith, let’s see…I’ll have a pumpkin scone, a Yellow Tail Shiraz…make it a venti, I’m feeling lush today. Oh and that new Celine Dion Nirvana remix CD. Oh, and throw in this silly little stuffed bear with the funny apron and corkscrew. And I’ll be using my Starbucks Visa, I just love points.”

For the love of God, plug me back in the matrix.

Is it just me or is the world resembling the end game of Monopoly where 1 or 2 “winners” trample over everybody and it’s no fun anymore and you just want to start all over again on even ground? Or just play Scrabble instead.

Hey Keith,

You can still stickhandle with the best of them. I’ll drop by Le Crocodile the next time I’m in town. If you come to Tokyo, I can take you around some nice wine bars. Anytime!

@ BC Brew – Redhook Ale out of Seattle used to use Starbucks grounds to make their double black stout. I was sad when pulled the DBS out of their regular rotation many many years ago, though I think they brew it once in awhile as a special release.

Seems like they are just trying to survive in the current economic conditions. Would work out in the suburbs but not in Vancouver.
