The tumultuous ride of Metro Restaurant & Lounge appears to be over. Approaching their 2nd year anniversary this July, the doors are locked and no one is answering the phone.
First launched back in late summer of 2007 by Chef Brian Fowke and Tim Kellar, Metro was one of the most promising new dining thoroughbreds out of the gate in what was a precedent-setting year of restaurant openings. However, a unwieldy food concept (a vast array of proteins offered by the ounce) with a slowing business economy proved to be too much to maintain.
Just this last spring, the owners took one last kick at the can with a new chef, staff, and slight face-lift, but alas, the horse is lame and the dream has gone out to pasture. R.I.P. ~ PK

Finally. Bad owners, bad management and an obscene menu. Classic example of big money with little business sense.
Nice comment Mr/Ms Bones. Nothing like dancing on the grave of a failed restaurant.
Restaurant failures no matter how “deserved” impact us all greatly. Try get credit from suppliers burned by a failed restaurant or a loan from a bank owed large from failure such as this.
I know little about the reasons for this failure but having failed more than once can offer my sympathy on the death of a dream and the financial burden which has to be satisfied by someone, somewhere.
To all those with the courage to try (big or small), who eek out rediculously small margins day in and day out, you all deserve our respect.
^ Well said.
Ahhh… sorry retaurantours, bones has pinned the tail on the donkey, no pun intended!
