I have been playing a wine game with restaurant sommeliers and wine nerds across town where I show up with a mystery bottle and ask them to review it blind. By not knowing what the wine is or who represents it, hopefully, an honest-no-bs-review is achieved. ~ PK

Country: Black Sage Bench, Okanagan Valley, BC Canada
Winemaker: Morning Bay Vineyards
Agent: Whitefish Group
Varietal Character/Distinctiveness: 4 ~ “Very true to varietal character. A text book example.”
Expression: 5 ~ “Nose: peach, lemon, lime, wet beach, stone, pear. Pallette: slight richness to the palate. Mallow. Moderate alcohol. Good length. Fruit ripe.
Complexity: 4 ~ “Very interesting and good complexity. Winemaker has shown good respect to the natural flavours of this grape.”
Balance: 4 ~ “Balance is good. This wine lends itself to lots of food pairing options or to simply enjoy a glass. Acidity, alcohol and aroma all in check.”
Value: 3.75 ~ “It’s hard to give a number because it’s too exact. So many variables. I would definitely recommend this wine and say it is of a high quality.
Further Notes: “This wine is very much what it should be. Not one of the great wines of the world. Perfect for a long lunch. I would buy it and I would sell it for what it is.”
