There are a couple new movies for the food obsessed arriving soon at a screen near you.
First up we have the documentary Food Inc. which goes into limited release June 12. Based on the writings of both Eric Schlosser and Micheal Pollan it looks like it could bring their ideas to a wider audience, although I’m not sure how much wider the audience of people that see art house screened documentaries versus people that read books really is. The money shot inevitably will be before the house lights dim watching someone carrying in a bucket of GMO corn topped with petroleum by-product distillate and a HFCS tanker of soda large enough to drown a kitten. Next we have Julie & Julia in August based on the book of the same name. I gotta say, Meryl Streep isn’t giving me the Julia Child vibe, the master of accents seems to have stumbled across one she can’t do. See the trailer here.
