Samurai Swords To Kitchen Knives

by Keith Talent on February 12, 2009

A fascinating photo essay on the creation of the most expensive kitchen knives in the world.

The smiths of yore made Samurai swords but with less samurai’s around, that market has dwindled over the years and now most of the production is sold to professional chefs.

Well worth a quick look.

Yeah, cool stuff and then there’s these: http://www.kramerknives.com/index.htm
Three year waiting list with no new orders being taken. $100. an inch for the plain steel and $200. an inch (I’ve heard) for the Damascus steel.
Stuff of kitchen dreams…..
