A charming fan-made ad for Trader Joe’s. Someone that loves TJ’s as much as I do. And bossa nova, it’s like all my enthusiasms rolled into one giant ball of goodness.
One day I was taking a photo of a primitive but lovely hand-drawn chalk sign when a manager came running over to tell me cameras aren’t allowed in Trader Joe’s. Well, he didn’t say anything about cell phones so I decided then and there to make a commercial for TJ’s on my Treo. Up until now they haven’t done any TV advertising at all so I have no idea if this is the kind of thing they would like.
See resultant video here. You may need to disable your popup blocker. If you’ve been to Trader Joe’s you’ll get most of the references, if you never have you’ll get to see what all the fuss is about, (hint; It’s basically booze, plus foods that go well with booze.)

The goods that I see on offer in Trader Joe’s seem for the most part to be palefaced versions of what ethnic groceries here in Vancouver offer-for a fraction of the price.
Why bother?
Trader Joe’s to me means I can stock up on Emer-Gen-C’s for a fraction of the cost here, and Plugra, a good, fat filled butter!
I thought trader joes in Washington State had a good bag of goods at reasonable prices. Better prices for cheese, crisps, chocolate and fruit from memory. It would be great if it came up here.
I live in Bellingham and shop at Trader Joe’s once a week , but NOT for fresh produce. Most of the vegetables are sealed under plastic and are not very fresh. Lots of damage due to age. Fruits no different. I’ve seen better cheese shelves, but hey if you like a quick redi made meal……this is the place. Harvest Bread, Avenue Bread and other known bakeries are far superior to what TJ’s sells. Milk is the cheapest anywhere.
