On Monday, January 26th, the Founders Dinner II will take place at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside in support of the BC Hospitality Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing help to individuals within the hospitality community, coping with extraordinary costs arising from a serious health crisis.
Michael Willingham (pictured above), a former restaurateur and wine rep, was the inspiration for the BC Hospitality Foundation after a car accident precipitated a debilitating stroke that left him partially paralyzed. Escalating medical costs not covered by insurance began to overwhelm Michael and his wife, Diane, who had quit her own job in the industry to provide full-time care for her husband. Michael’s many long-time colleagues, wanting to help their friend, formed the foundation as a way to assist him and others from the hospitality industry.
