VANCOUVER’S 2008 SOMMELIER OF THE YEAR NEIL INGRAM PRESENTS: RIESLING 101

The folks at Salt Tasting Room are excited to have their friend & neighbour Neil Ingram of Boneta Restaurant present an evening getting to know the wonderful world of Riesling!
A born and bred Vancouverite, Neil became widely known to locals upon joining Andrey Durbach’s Etoile restaurant where he proceeded to learn a great deal more about wine from legendary Barb Philip and of course the man himself.
Following this, a tour at Cin Cin restaurant followed with Neil taking his education in the grape extremely seriously, springboarding him to Lumiere where he constructed a miniature empire building the wine program and the room into its Relais & Gourmand splendor. The Tasting Bar followed, then Feenie’s.
Along with best friends (and local hospitality legends) Mark Brand and Andre McGillivray, Neil opened Boneta Restaurant in July of 2007, quickly garnering such awards as Vancouver Magazine’s Best New Restaurant, just recently being named one of enRoute Magazine’s Top Ten New Restaurants In Canada, and at this past Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival; Sommelier Of The Year.
With his charismatic style, grace and humour, Neil will guide guests through the history of Riesling, from Old World to New World, the various styles of the grape, buying tips and a casual guide to food pairing. Rieslings from Germany, Australia, France, BC and more will be poured in a comprehensive fashion with plenty of opportunity for questions and conversation.
This event will take place Monday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m. along the backdrop of Salt Cellar’s 1000-bottle wine cooler, in an intimate setting that will include dozens of Salt’s hand-crafted charcuterie from local producers such as J, N & Z Deli, Moccia’s, & Oyama Sausage Company, along with artisan cheeses from Neal’s Yard (UK), Italy, Spain, and British Columbia. Various pâtés, terrines, prosciuttos & Salt’s other treats will be on offer to accompany the Rieslings.
Tickets are $ 80 all-inclusive, and we expect to sell this one out quickly, so call Salt at 604-633-1912 to book your spot!
