by admin 07.31.2008

Some unsolicited weirdness in this morning’s mailbag:

Well known for their raucous annual staff parties, the crew at Chambar apparently went on a John McEnroe-esque rampage through [...]

by admin 07.30.2008

Opening Soon | R.TL

by admin 07.25.2008

It’s a tight-looking space a few doors down from Goldfish (the bones appear very narrow). I’ve been watching it develop for nearly a year. To be honest, from the very little I heard back when I first caught wind of it, it sounded like it was to be a bit of a douchey nightclub more than a restaurant. I [...]

I Mean C’mon, Really?

by admin 07.25.2008

You kinda just knew that someone was going to write about it.
Joanne Chang was arrested July 18 outside West Restaurant on South Granville at a protest against the restaurant’s sale of of foie gras. Police were called by an area resident annoyed by the group’s use of a megaphone. In a statement released by Liberation [...]

Off To Meet Isabelle

by admin 07.24.2008

Just come off a hardcore work week: a multitude of micro pieces, columns, book stuff (working on a second “Vancouver Cooks” cookbook with the Chef’s Table Society), web mountains, and a variety of other considerations. I’m learning that writing is a tidal pursuit, with moments of intense shitting-of-pants blending into serene holidays with family and [...]
