Some fresh pics and good news from the Moderne Burger front. Vancouver’s best burgers are just five days away. Huzzah!
From founder/owner Peter Kokinis:
“bearing an act of god or war [...] we will be open [this] Friday.”
Why the long delay?
We’ve had equipment delays and problems which one would expect when building something like this from scratch, the way it would have been done back in the 40′s and 50′s, but speeding up the process by popping open a can of “instant restaurant” just seems wrong.

Friday can’t come soon enough. More photos here.

Will Friday ever come? Hopes are high…
Cool guy, cool room. Can’t wait.
About freakin’ time. It has been a really long wait.
I am glad it is finally going to open (although I will believe it when I see it) as they have amazing burgers. That said, I don’t expect to be rushing out to his restaurant any time soon as I am rather upset with him for the long delays. I have my doubts about the excuses Peter has provided here for the long delays because any time they have shut down previously it has always taken them an extremely long time to reopen. Different people have talked to him and asked him what was taking so long, and the stories he has given in the past for why varied greatly with each person he talked to. He said he was still paying his staff while he was shutdown, which is not true (I know a staff member), so that alone cast serious doubt for me on anything he said. I wish he had just been honest and said “I don’t need the money, so we will open when I feel like it – I need a holiday. I really don’t care about the customers”.
After the lengthy closure for over a year, I tried calling Sat Aug 30 no answer no message, so I drove across town and I could not believe it CLOSED FOR THE LONG WEEKEND, These people obiously have too much money, I am fed up and moving on to some one that wants my business
