BREAKING: I took my second tour of the unfinished restaurant space attached to Uva Wine Bar in the Moda Hotel tonight. It’s come a long way from the heinous shell that it was a couple of months ago (fireplace, wine racks, cabinetry are now installed), but there’s still a ways to go. Moda concept/operations boss Sebastien Le Goff says it’ll be finished in a week or so, barring any unforeseen problems, and then it’ll be another month or so before the kitchen comes on line (so five weeks before it opens). It has a name now, too. They’ve decided on Cibo, the Italian word for “food” (pronounced “chee-bo”). Fitting, I suppose, since Uva is the Italian word for “grape”. I’m looking forward to this one.
