“Revel” Finally Opens In Gastown

This has been a long time coming.

Revel opened last night at 238 Abbott Street in Gastown. A city strike and financing trouble may have set them back by many months, but the end result is a lovely, cozy little place full of complimentary contrasts. Like Cobre nearby, it balances modern touches against the old brick bones of the neighbourhood without going overboard. Check out the pixelated light/art installation upstairs. Kinda cool. Two floors, nice little bars, plenty to look at. The menu was all small plates in the $8-$12 range with larger dishes coming once the kinks are worked out. I’d just finished dinner at Hy’s and a couple drinks at Boneta so it was just a quick walk-through. Folks seems super nice. Break a leg.

Great another place to spend money in my hood. I’ll have to drop by in the next day or two. How’s the drinks programme?
