New Van Food Blogs

by admin on April 29, 2008

I have two favourite new Vancouver websites. The first is called Butter On The Endive (which is open kitchen code for “a fine looking person just entered the restaurant”). Penned by a trio that includes young cook Owen Lightly (trained in the kitchens of West and Aurora), it’s been a fun read so far with some great pics. I wish there were more cooks within the business who’d start blogging. It’s a unique point of view, and if the writing is any good it almost guarantees a big audience. The most recent post has Aurora owner Jeff Van Geest reminiscing about how his restaurant came into being. It’s a goodie. The second site worthy of our bookmarks is from Degan Beley, formerly of Beyond Robson. It’s called Vancouver Ethnic Eats, and it’s basically a journal of her adventures in local restaurants, from Mexican to Ethiopian (Degan will be contributing to the July issue of EAT). Happy reading.
