Gawd. I hate deleting my own posts but I just did. Sigh. Let me rephrase what I had written as a question to simplify and erase the sturm and drang context so some of the more fragrant knickers here can become unknotted…
Do you think PR representatives should post under their own names/signatures?
PS. The Ali reference was in reference to the deleted spat. I’ve left it up there because it’s Ali.

I think everybody should.
In a perfect world…
A restaurant PR company/individual has it in their own interest to use their real name…I would think. If they are posting a personal opinion not reflecting their company then disclose the fact.
I think everyone who has some vested interest or bias should disclose it if they comment. So if you choose not to reveal your identity, then make it clear that you have some ‘working relationship’ (PR rep, wait staff, supplier-to, heck, even mother-of) with the restaurant in question.
Answer to Andrew’s question: Yes
Here’s a question in return: Do you think you should have asked this BEFORE the UD Awards?
Oh Arne… ;-)
As you know, a PR person’s nomination or vote was worth as much as yours and mine, and all voting was done anonymously. As you saw, those who voted for their clients or themselves didn’t make a dent in the large number of votes cast. I don’t think Clinton will vote for Obama when she gets her booth, but that’s not going to make her win. It’s the nature of the democratic process, and I gotta dance with the girl that done brung me.
If you still have trouble with the process or the results, PM me and I’ll take your suggestions or complaints for what they’re worth.
I don’t see why anyone posting on the forum shouldn’t use their real name… what do you have to hide? We are all friends, supposedly.
