Chef Angus An and Gastropod Restaurant invited to cook at James Beard House in New York City

Chef Angus An and Gastropod Restaurant has been invited to cook dinner at the prestigious James Beard House in Manhattan. Accompanied by Michael Dinn and Heidi Noble of Joie Wines, Chef An is honored to travel to New york City with his Gastropod team to showcase their talents at what is often referred to as the “Carnegie Hall” of Culinary institutions.

The dinner, entitled “Modern Canadian Gastronomy,” will take place Saturday, March 15, 2008, beginning at 7 pm. The goal of the dinner is to highlight the world-class standards of fine gastronomy in British Columbia. The evening will include 4 canapes and a 5 course dinner, each course paired with a different Joie wine (A Noble Blend 2007, Un-Oaked Chardonnay 2007, Reserve Chardonnay 2005, Rose 2007 and PTG 2005), with an Elephant Island’s Crab Apple Wine 2006 to complement dessert.

Chef An will showcase British Columbia grown products from Polderside Farm, Sloping Hill Farm, Nicola Valley Ranch, and Farm House Cheese. Gastropod will also feature local suppliers such as Far-Met Importers, Hills Foods, and Finest At Sea. The event recognizes Gastropod to be among the very top restaurants representing New Canadian cuisine.
Since opening in November of 2007, Gastropod has received nurmerous awards and accolades, including earning Gold for Best New Fine Dining Restaurant in 2007 at the 18th annual Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards.

In celebration of Chef An’s visit to cook at the James Beard House, the menu that will be featured in New York will also be featured at Gastropod upon Angus and his Gastropod team’s return home. “You want to show your loved one just how much they mean to you on Valentine’s Day,” says Executive Chef Josh Wolfe. “Having a great meal in a warm atmosphere can really set the mood.”

For starters, choose between seared fresh seafood or a crisp Caesar salad.
