An oldie but a goodie. Food writer, poet, and political genius Calvin Trillin of the New Yorker and The Nation visited Charlie Rose back in 2003. A fine and funny interview on vernacular eating, the Iraq War, pork, and the Bush Administration.
More poignant irrelevance after the jump…
Since Trillin left me feeling particularly nostalgic on this South Carolina primary night, I have some prescient dessert: the rousing resignation speech in the British House of Commons by the former Foreign Secretary, Robin Cook, given just before Blair rejected his counsel and gave Bush a pinch on the bum. Cook, likely a cousin of Obi Wan Kenobi and a descendent of Cicero, was probably the most eloquent parliamentarian and statesman since Winston Churchill, and just as right antebellum. In memorium:

What does Robin Cook have to do with food, you ask? Well, he was a cook for starters.
