We’re now in the nominations process for the Industry section of the awards and I am reminded of how cool it is that this is happening.
Peer-driven awards can suck if the choices are bad and the peers are wankers. But what we are witnessing in this first crack is impressive, especially considering the collected knowledge of the membership. The people doing the nominating and the people being nominated are not all the same, thank goodness. It’s how they all reflect a broad and deep reservoir of talent and experience that gets me.
Anyway, a midnight observation. I’m just glad enough to rest easy knowing that the people and the restaurants that are recognized will actually deserve it. They could possibly even feel honoured. I hope so.
Paul hopes to lock up the location this week, and he’s happily taken the assistance of some beverage providers to cover our booze costs (tip of the hat).
The Urban Diner Awards cometh.
