In this month’s Vancouver Magazine, Jamie Maw and Chris Gonzales co-pen an anecdotal feature discussing the Vancouver restaurants frequented by the heavy-hitting nabobs of big business. It’s a really big deal (pun intended).

But forget that and get a load of this extra special Van Mag sidebar deluxe: Rob Feenie didn’t make the circle jerk Power 50 cut this year, but his nemesis David Sidoo did (and I don’t know whether to yawn or puke).

So much more after the beep, my friends…

Fiona Morrow comes to the rescue with a fun write up on Andrey Durbach, this past month’s Mr. Popular.

A month after publishing a Restaurant Awards issue that nobody gave a shit about (plausible results would help), Vancouver View publishes an interview with Lumiere’s chef de cuisine executive chef Rob Feenie Dale MacKay. My favourite softball question?

What is it like to be a personal chef for Hollywood celebrities?

I’m smelling Pulitzer (or is that something else?). Watch out for that tiny speck in your rear view mirror, Van Mag. The View is coming at you, and it’s riding on one of these.

This week in the Courier, Tim Pawsey writes about the upcoming release of Craig Noble’s Tableland film at the Ridge Theater.

In the Vancouver Sun, Mia Stainsby reviews Kerrisdale’s Suvai.

In the Georgia Straight, Angela Murrills reviews West Broadway’s Sai Z.

In the Globe and Mail, Alexandra Gill reviews Plan B.

In the North Shore News, Deana Lancaster reviews (and nails) West Vancouver’s new Chill on the Beachfront.

And in the WE, I review Pied-a-Terre, brand new and smoking cheroots on what’s left of Cambie.

Happy reading, folks.

PS. I’d like to remind my fellow writers that the catch-all prefix “uber” was tolerable a couple of years ago, but it’s not so cool anymore. That ship has seriously sailed. These days, friends don’t let friends use the word uber unless they’re German, 12, or declaring their “status” on Facebook – as in “Krystal is uber-tanked”.

Word is born.
