In today’s Globe, Alexandra Gill makes mention that Rob Feenie will be cooking as an independent and Dale Mackay will be representing Lumiere at next week’s Gold Medal Plates competition at the Westin Bayshore (we thought so…). Cue the Ennio Morricone meme in the local media…

So who else is cooking?

Javier Alarco – Hyatt Vancouver
Robert Belcham – Fuel
Melissa Craig – Bearfoot Bistro
Kevin Doucette – The Westin Bayshore
Rob Feenie – Independent
David Hawksworth – West
Scott Jaeger – The Pear Tree
Jay Lynn – Hilton Whistler
Dale MacKay – Lumiere
Lee Parsons – Wedgewood
Stefan Pimenta – Le Gavroche
Pino Posteraro – Cioppino’s
Nico Schuermans – Chambar

It should be an interesting day. I’m excited to be judging!

EXTRA: Also in today’s Globe, an entertaining dinner with food writer and all-around awesome dude, Lee Man, Gill’s ticket to ride through the labyrinth of Richmond.

Andrew, you are such a douchebag !!!

What is up with the sensational headlines…….it is not a fight to the death.

Slow news day ?

From what I can gather, Rob chose Dale to come work at Lumiere to replace Marc.

Dale is standing in the center of a media shitstorm created by the partnership breaking up and perpetuated by the media. His every move is criticized and compared to Rob in the kitchen. IIRC, he came to town to work with Rob, not replace him. This situation is not of his creation. I hope he can hold down the fort as many people count on the restaurant remaining a going concern for their livlihood.

Fight to the Death.

Hardly.

Dale will get a chance to strut his stuff, and Rob will show you why he is an “Iron Chef”.

If it all works out, the city will only gain……………..a new chef at Lumiere, and possibly a new restaurant for Rob Feenie.

That looks good to me.

I was poking fun at headlines…

Hell, and why is it all about Feenie and MacKay? There are a lot of contenders in this battle!

So you were right…….get over it.

Lets see what these produce!

Andrew’s version of “just kidding!”

But I’m not here to pile on …

Lee is just going to have to get used to being the food-media darling of Vancouver. Good thing he’s getting out of town for a while.

Go Hawksworth! Kick both their asses! :P

George November 8, 2007 at 9:50 am

Is it a blind tasting? Otherwise why bother?

Kevin November 8, 2007 at 10:47 am

I have been told that Dale Mackay will not be attending this event.

Alexandra November 8, 2007 at 2:41 pm

Dale has indeed stepped aside. There is a correction in today’s Globe and Mail.

jimmyslick November 8, 2007 at 10:57 pm

Hey hey who’s this Fennie guy anyway?

Velozity November 8, 2007 at 11:25 pm

I don’t know, that’s a pretty solid line up all around. I think everyone who gets to try all those chef’s dishes on one night is pretty darn lucky!

Gavin November 9, 2007 at 12:25 am

Go Scott Jaeger!!!

Kick all their butts! Show them who’s a real cook and competitior…Monsieur Bocuse D’Or!

Chris November 15, 2007 at 4:19 am

Wow! Pino won. Melissa Craig took a close second and who gives a flying fuck how Feenie did.
Wearing jeans to an event like this in your chef whites, Rob?
Unprofessional and totally unclassy.
Iron chef, my ass!
