More Italian Kitchen

I had an early dinner at Box-designed Italian Kitchen tonight to kick the tires. First impressions were pretty good. I won’t comment on the food just yet, though I will say the music is unfathomably gaggish. Imagine Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Billy Idol, Sting, and other Mediterranean notables – a pity as the place is pretty enough to warrant an earful from the fat man of Emilia-Romagna and just cool enough to pull off George Clooney’s aunt with a straight face. Neat to see managing partner Robert Byford (husband of Coast manager Denise) dressed in his cheffing blacks working the floor and the pass.

A few more photos after the bump…

CityFood has the food menus and some wonderful photos of yesterday’s media event.

I fairly certain that Rosemary Clooney was actually George Clooney’s aunt.

The Big Night soundtrack kicks ass.

The food was really average. We tried the
antipasto platter for two. Entree was linguine with
jumbo prawn. I think Glowbal in Yaletown
and Province Marinaside has better food and ambience. The table has no salt and pepper
provided and the food was so plain that
I really wanted some more salt and pepper after the
waiter gave us salt and pepper when the food was
served. Definitely will not come back to this
restaurant again. Don’t even serve any bread
while waiting for appertiser!
