The New Soma

I checked out the new Soma on 8th just off Main Street last night (across from Aurora Bistro). It’s a very cool, fun, and comfy hideaway room that’s night-and-day different from the bright old wireless cafe with the magazines and netwits. In many ways it’s almost criminally reminiscent of Salt Tasting Room (with big black chalkboard menus, artisan cheeses, charcuterie, and bar stools that are exactly the same – gulp), but hey, whaddya do. Plenty of great beers can be had along with cocktails designed by Steve de Cruz (of Chill Winston and soon Boneta). The intense and super capable Tyler Torrance (ex Monsoon) is the chef. Break a leg, fellas.

Visited Soma for the first time this week… wonderful room, neat little menu and great energy from both back and front of house staff.

In spite of the fact, that I’m a huge Steve de Cruz fan, I’m going back for sure.
