The Rare Treatment

In a weird shade of history repeating itself, the Vancouver Sun’s Mia Stainsby has given West Vancouver’s Mangia e Bevi a glowing review (her best in a while) just a day after the Globe’s Alexandra Gill panned the crap out of it. You might remember how their opinions of Hornby’s Rare, published back to back several months ago, were also diametrically opposed. Funny thing, food. It’s almost like it tastes differently to different people. Perhaps Deana Lancaster of the North Shore News will break the tie (her word is bond here on the Shore).For my part, I’ve been twice now (it’s in my hood) and I’m starting to slide towards Gill’s slant (in the July issue of EAT).
