Boneta Coming to Gastown

by admin on May 7, 2007

The long anticipated first restaurant by the Bonobo Entertainment Group’s Neil Ingram (ex Lumiere, currently La Buca), Andre McGillivray (ex Chambar, Lumiere, Le Croc, currently Chill Winston), and Mark Brand (ex Chambar) has now entered the “opening soon” phase of development. The location is a beauty – 1 West Cordova Street – in the old One Restaurant & Lounge space. The name, Boneta, is Mark Brand’s mother’s name (cue the “awww”). The chef will be Jeremie Bastien, formerly the sous chef at Lumiere. Opening: summer 2007.

It’ll be open this week. Here’s a couple pics of them putting up the signs last week.

Well not quite- We’re getting closer, but have not yet announced the official date. As you can see we’ve still got a some sweeping up to do!

So will there be a special “Unicorns of Death” section to the menu?

Great food but the noise was deafening, esp. as the room got more crowded AND they seemed to be turning UP the music until by the end of the meal, I had to keep asking my friend what she had just said. Ears ringing after a rock concert is expected but not after a nice dinner. Although the food was exceptional, I doubt that I will return if the noise is not cranked down considerably.

I totally agree with you on Boneta (outstanding place). As I said before, we may have different views of many restaurants, but we TOTALLY agree on this one!
