EAT Online Now

The May/June issue of EAT Magazine has just gone online. This is the first issue with me working as the editor here in Vancouver and I’m glad to see that the content I was responsible for translated satifactorily from this old, beat up laptop to the printed page. I was worried there for a little while that somehow I would break it…

There is so much going on in this issue that it is hard to steer you towards any one particular story over another (so I’m going to point you to two). I am particularly stoked with Lee Man’s article – “Demystifying the Chinese Labyrnth” – on the best dishes in Richmond. His is a very welcome voice in the business of BC food writing, and even though his insights on the Chinese dining scene in Richmond are unimpeachable, don’t let his article fool you into thinking that he hasn’t dined at just about every one of Vancouver’s best restaurants.

The insightfulness of Chris Mason Stearn’s interview with Vikram Vij and Meeru Dhalwala of Vij’s and Rangoli is also worth checking out. It was a sure thing before the three of them even sat down together. On top of being an accomplished writer and photographer, Stearns’ is also a veteran in the Vancouver food and beverage scene. Vij and Dhalwala are great interviews, but Stearns’ knows the right questions to ask.

There is so much more inside, and I won’t let it all out here. EAT should be hitting the streets this week and the next, but you can check out the entire issue online right now – for free – by visiting EatMagazine.ca.

Happy reading!
