The Shore Club

UPDATE: The Shore Club is now open. To view video footage, click here.

www.theshoreclub.ca

A new high end seafood restaurant of David Aisenstat’s (Keg, Hy’s Steakhouse, Gotham) that is nowhere near the shore (the Hudson Building at Dunsmuir and Seymour). Originally scheduled for a March opening, a recent pass (April 19th) saw The Shore Club nowhere near completion. I’ve heard, however, that Elaine Thorsell, who designed the Beach House (ahem), is said to be in charge of the aesthetic. I’d tell you more about it but they’ve been very quiet.

It was nice to read the great opinion from one of the members of UD about their first visit, and the compliments on the service at Gotham, one of our other restaurants. Now maybe we could be included in your where to dine section. We are garnering many awards, and positive reviews for service, when their is much talk about bad service being an issue, and are one of the busiest places in town, so why not include Steakhouses. What about Hy’s. Been in biz for more than 40 years.

Do steakhouses count. Are we considered restaurants? Simple preparation to quality product.

WAY too expensive for what you get:(

I loved this restaurant. The look was very elegant and upscale modern. I enjoyed the interactive menu. You choose your main meat and then add from a huge assortment of sides. Your meat choice is served to you on a plate and the sides are brought to the table seperately in small serving bowls, reminding me of dinner at Gramma’s house. I enjoyed being served like this. One side is enough for two people. I ordered the large lobster tail. The Maitre’d or your server removes it from the shell for you at the table. No messy hands here. Our server, Chris was great. He explained how the menu works and had good knowledge of the very extensive wine list. Oh and did I mention how comfortable the chairs were?

Andrew: Say no to the shill!

This is such a great site until I come across crap like “Nancy Josland” and her ‘turfing above.

Pollution to an otherwise great information source.

Love the site BTW.

Came here with a friend for some wine and tapas before a private shopping night at Holt Renfrew.

Food was average and expensive. We were there on a Thursday night and it was pretty quiet, no real ambience.

Doubt I will go back…

I agree with Picky. It was very empty and they were very awful new age music. The manager came out and seemed to be keeping an eye on us the whole entire time. They less than hospitable. Whenever he approached us, his demeanor was incredibly insincere and he mentioned that he wasn’t used to “our type” at his restaurant. Two of the guests of the party asked for a tour to see the private rooms for future functions but he never extended an invite for a viewing. I will not be going to this place again and It’s such a shame because it has such potential. What a way to end a joyous occassion.
